Howdy
Welcome to Lance's Joint. I can't
imagine how you got here, but enjoy your stay.
For a new way to waste time, check back here for "What's Lance Drinking?" It will be updated as often as I get around to it (or I get more booze). Remember, I am no beer critic. What you read here is just rants from a regular beer drinker who has given up on the bud/coors/miller bullshit. If you have any suggestions send me some email: [email protected]
On with the show :
Nov. 7th cont.
Part two, still waiting for those bastards in Florida to tell us who won. Arrogant Bastard Ale is on tap tonight. Created in the vats at The Stone Brewing Company.Another brewery with a great sense of humor. Arrogant Bastard is a heavy ale with a interesting hoppy after taste. Now if I can just get a hold of some of the Double Bastard Ale....
Nov. 7th
It's election night, and I feel it's every
American's duty to get drunk and cast a ballot for the lesser of the two evils. I am starting with The Lagunator, brewed at The Lagunitas Brewing CompanyThese folks have a great sense of humor (in keeping with election results). Thier bottle are worthy of a read, and the beer is good too.
Nov. 6th
Keeping it local tonight. Racer 5 is the brew. Created in one of my haunts, Healdsburg. The The Bear Republic Brewing Companyis a great brew pub. I love when you can smell the hops and malt when you walk into a brew pub. Racer 5 is a nice IPA. Also worth menioning is thier Red Rocket Ale.

Nov. 2nd
Tonight we are heading south of Sonoma County. I didn't know they brewed beer down in San Diego County. But lets give the folks down at The Stone Brewing Companya chance. To be specific it's Stone's IPA. It's got a nice hoppy smell and taste. Mighty tasty. And for bonus points, they give The Anderson Valley Brewing Company some serious competition for best logo.
Oct. 27th
Must....have...more....from....The Lagunitas Brewing CompanyEquinox to be specific. Good beer, make me feel happy.
Oct. 20th
We are going back toThe Russian River Brewing Company tonight. It's their Porter brew tonight. Much, much better then thier Ragin' River Ale. Highly recommended if your like your meal and beer in the same bottle.

Oct. 12th
We are heading up north for this 'un. A brew from The Anderson Valley Brewing Company, located in Mendocino County. Pale Ale's aren't usually my thang, but I do enjoy this. It's not as light as most Pale Ale. Gonna have to try thier IPA next. Special award for having the best mascot.
Oct. 11th
Ragin' River Ale is on tap tonight. Brewed by The Russian River Brewing Company. Not a bad beer, but not with alot of bite to it. Don't expect much from thier web site, they are owned and operated by Korbel. The beer tastes like a corporate microbrew.
Oct. 1st
Lets have a little toast to the Sonoma County Harvest Fair. Tonight I am drinking wine. Hanna to be exact. Gold Medel winner, Sweepstakes winner and about 10 bucks a bottle. Can't beat it with a stick.
Sept. 26th
I guess I am on a quest to drink every IPA out there. Tonights is Moylans's IPA. Good, with a strong hoppy after taste (they call it a finish, guess I am not quite that refined). A little too much self promotion on the label. This award, that award, come on guys, let the beer do the talking.

Sept. 21st
Somedays its not what you drink, its how much. Today was one of those days. 2 computers crash, a annoying heat rash, and one of my computer speakers dies on me. Plenty of Red Tails tonight....
Sept. 18th
Damn it's hot out here. I needed something colder then beer for this weather. Thats why tonights drink is a Mudslide. Just what a day like this calls for...a little premade mix, a bunch of ice, and a place to put your feet up. BTW the picture is of a mudslide in South America. Its more interesting then brown ice in a plastic Batman cup.
Sept. 17th
Tonight is The Mendocino Brewing Company's Red Tail ale. This is my Budweiser/Miller/Coors. It's kinda my baseline for drinking beer. Red Tail is what first got me interested in The Mendo Brewing Company. By the way, I highly recommend stopping by the brewery. Good pub food, and when you get properly lubricated, you can go next door for some cheesecake from the Cheesecake Lady.
Sept. 13th
Tonight is The Marin Brewing Company's White Knuckle Ale. This stuff is not for the faint of heart. This is a brewers beer. If you have ever actually made your own beer, and like the smell of the malt and hops, then for gods sake run out and grab some of this. As they say on the bottle "twice the hops, twice the malt" Not for the Budweiser set....
Sept. 12th
Tonight is The Mendocino Brewing Company's Black Hawk Stout. The color (or colour for Catharine and Emma) reminds me of Guiness, but is doesn't have nearly the bite. Good stuff.
Sept. 9th
Arff, this stuff is like giving a dog a bone. It's called Dogtown, and it brewed by the fine folks atThe Lagunitas Brewing Company. Just what the hound in you wants.
Now for some 3d graphics...

This is was just a little experiment in
modeling. Kinda a asteroid thing going on...Then I added a little
combustion for atmosphere.
This is a bite from Lost in Space, or V,
or Independance Day. Messing around with Greebles. Cool plug
in...it makes recreating the Death Star run in Star Wars a snap.
Added some combustion and glowed up some particles for the
exhaust. Note the Generic background that shipped with Max. You
will see it alot here...
Another shot at modeling organic looking
stuff. This is a geosphere with a noise modification, then noise
added as a bump map. I threw in the cheesy probe ships just to
motivate the spot effect i was going for. Again the attack of the
purple background.
I started trying to get a good looking
swaying grass. Added a ocean 'cause i wanted to try a new trick
at getting that big udulating wave thing going on. Mist, moon and
stars finish the damn thing off...
This is a just a little intro animation
for a upcoming Telethon Segment. The bumps on the moon are
actually eyes. They wink at the camera at the end of the
animation...
Dig that funky tree, a proto graveyard.

Here is a quick modeling job.
This is for the game of the week defensive lineup information. The camara flys up to
show who is starting in each defensive postion. these images are
not 100% correct. The camara has a 20mm lens on it, so the field
is compressed quite a bit. Click the images for more info.

Here is experiment in
instanced particles. Those little stick figures. Are just little
particles shot out of a emitter. You can tell the emitter to
shoot out any shape. I chose the simple yet elegant scarecrow..

A little hallway scene. Maybe I
have just seen ALIEN too many times...

Here is another attempt at water.
This is from a tutoriel I found on the net.

Here is a little Christmassy
thing I did for CableONE. Ho, ho, ho....
Proto fuel...name the two movies it was inspired (stolen) by.
More to come, drop me a line and
let me know how ya got here.
